vogue world: paris. the blink-and-you-missed-it moments
By: Brigiite Valadez
Vogue is getting really good at these livestreams. Ever since I produced their Met Gala coverage, I’ve become more obsessed with their events! On International Olympic Day, they took over the Place Vendôme for Vogue World: Paris– a fashion show that covered the evolution of style over the last century, with each decade of fashion paired with a different sport. 188 athletes, 151 models, 70 dancers, a 40-piece orchestra and 20 international breakdancers plus a ton of celebrities made appearances.
Although I found some of host Cara Delevingne’s off-the-cuff narration a tad cringey (like when she said “aw, i’m getting fomo. This looks fun. I wanna join. Come on, put me in coach.” during Bad Bunny’s performance. Just let the man do his thing!), she did a great job seamlessly educating us on all the fashion deets during the livestream with her soothing voice.
Then it turned out, she actually was going to walk the runway at that time and showed up on screen! I LAUGHED OUT LOUD.
Below, our list of blink-and-you-missed-it moments- on the stream and before the stream.
1. Katy Perry sticking her tongue out.
Ever since she shot whipped cream out of her bra in the California Gurls music video, I’ve always loved that Katy doesn’t take herself too seriously even when she’s wearing an archival.
2. Emma Chamberlain’s reaction.
Jeremy Pope got up from his seat to surprise guests with a musical number during the Roaring 20s section of the show and Emma was very surprised/impressed.
3. Maluma’s martini dance.
Maluma wearing Thom Browne and holding a martini while doing his walk and ending it with a little dance is all I need to have a great day.
4. Model Angelina Kendall’s teeny tiny Eiffel tower nail charm.
How freaking cute is Angelina’s nail design?! I need more deets on this Vogue!
5. The back of Joe Burrow’s black suit.
The NFL quarterback made his modeling debut at Vogue World: Paris and I think we all approve of him leaving football to become a runway model.
6. Diane Kruger’s wristband? bracelet? hair tie?
I didn’t notice it on any other attendee so someone please tell me why Diane was wearing this! Her Nina Ricci pinstripes and lace look was super cute nonetheless.
7. Snap clips. So many snap clips.
Model Cindy Bruna (and the rest of the girls) transported me back to my teenage years with this hair look by hair stylist Eugene Souleiman. How many snap clips do we think were used?!
8. The jaw dropping aerial shots.
I had to rewind the stream to fully appreciate these shots. As a director/producer myself, this is just so cool to see in a live broadcast!!
9. Bad Bunny.
That’s it. That’s the post.
